Fast and accurate determination of mechanical properties of various elastic materials is important for many applications. This paper describes the software package SIMPLE, which was developed in order to determine the effective parameters of an elastic waveguide using ultrasonic signals measured on the surface. This version of the software package is designed for the case of isotropic elastic layer. A brief description of the mathematical model on which the approach is based and the algorithms for processing experimental data and solving the inverse problem is given. The principles of the software design and usage are also described. Two examples of the employment of the developed software system for determining Young's modulus and Poisson's ratio of steel and plastic specimens are provided.
